Clients sometimes ask me about natural remedies and supplements for anxiety. Here are a few supplements that have been found to help with stress and anxiety.
Magnesium helps your body relax. When experiencing distress, your body excretes higher levels of magnesium. Therefore it can be helpful to supplement your magnesium levels. Magnesium glycinate is one of the most absorbable forms of magnesium. If you have a sensitive stomach, try magnesium citrate.
Valerian root is sometimes taken as a sleep aid for insomnia, which can be caused by anxiety. Like magnesium, valerian root promotes relaxation.
Ashwagandha and rhodiola rosea are both stress adaptogens. Stress adaptogens help to counteract the effects of stress on the body. Some find that adaptogens promote calmness while combating fatigue.
