Sarah F. Spiegelhoff, Ph.D., LMHC, NCC
Owner & Counselor
Dr. Sarah F. Spiegelhoff believes that in order to improve mental health and wellness, her work is to create a patient-centered partnership with clients, to offer support, insight, and empowerment in making informed choices. She recognizes that mental health is as important as physical health, and that the two cannot be separated. Through an integrative, holistic approach, Dr. Spiegelhoff will assess and review the client’s overall wellness, exploring emotional wellbeing, nutrition, sleep health, exercise, relationships, and more. Through this therapeutic process, clients transform pain and distress into hope, strength, positive change, and achievement.
Dr. Spiegelhoff is a mental health counselor and the owner of Dr. Spiegelhoff & Associates. At her practice, she provides individual and family counseling to preteens, adolescents, and adults. Her specialties include integrative mental health and wellness, teen and young adult mental health, and family counseling.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Spiegelhoff is Visiting Assistant Professor for the graduate Counseling and Psychological Services department at SUNY Oswego. Courses taught include Foundations of Mental Health Counseling, Counselor Ethics, Multicultural Counseling, Prepracticum, Mental Health Counseling Practicum, Mental Health Counseling Internship, Diagnosis and Assessment, Advanced Diagnosis and Assessment. Along with teaching, Dr. Spiegelhoff conducts research with graduate research assistants and colleagues on developing a new wellness model, integrating wellness and identity development. Prior to private practice, Dr. Spiegelhoff worked in college counseling for 10 years, as a college counselor, clinical supervisor, and counseling center director. She earned a Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education, a graduate certificate in Women & Gender Studies, and a graduate certificate in University Teaching from Syracuse University. She earned an M.A. and Ed.S. in Counseling from Rider University, and a B.A. in Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Spiegelhoff is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in NY and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and is currently completing training to become a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider.
Dr. Spiegelhoff is a Past-President of the American Counseling Association of New York (ACA-NY). She currently serves as ACA-NY’s Historian. Since she joined the board in 2017, she has worked diligently with her colleagues and graduate students to advocate for legislative issues pertaining to counseling and mental health. She is also an active member of several other organizations, including the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (ACAC), the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC), and the Syracuse Psychoanalytic Study Group.
In her spare time, Dr. Spiegelhoff enjoys practicing yoga and pilates, nature walks, watching F1, growing houseplants, and advocating for animal welfare. She has been a vegetarian for over 15 years.

Caroline Goldschein, M.S., LMHC, LPC, NCC
Associate Counselor
Caroline believes successful counseling outcomes are grounded in a collaborative and trusting partnership between the therapist and the client. When working with clients, she provides a warm and welcoming space to allow clients to feel supported through both their challenges and successes. Through this practice, clients feel empowered to make informed choices about their mental health and wellness.
Her approach is based on the individual needs of the client. With a focus on personal strengths, they will explore how lifestyle and wellness factors impact their day-to-day. Her work motivates clients, helps them gain insight, helps to identify barriers to their goals, and identifies ways to improve overall health and wellness. Through the therapeutic process, the client transform fears, pain, and distress into hope and positive change.
Caroline is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania, and a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Villanova University.
Caroline provides individual and family counseling to adolescents and adults. She has experience working with individuals struggling with mental health and substance use challenges. Additionally, she specializes in young adult and college student mental health, with a particular focus on anxiety, depression, social and relational stressors, and academic- and career-related concerns.
