Take a deep breath.  It calms the mind.

Parents, do your kids ever get frustrated when things aren’t going their way?  My guess is yes!

So often in the mental health profession we talked about how mindfulness practices can be incredibly beneficial to calming the mind and body.  This is true for adults and kids!  While we cannot expect kids, or many adults for that matter, to sit in silence and meditate for 20 minutes, we can teach them simple calming techniques.

Rosita, a 5 year-old friend of Elmo on Sesame Street recently learned how belly breathing can help her when she is frustrated over not being able to play with Elmo at the park.

Check out Rosita’s video teaching kids how to use belly breathing.
